The Regatta, which took place yesterday afforded considerable amusement to those of our population who take an interest in aquatic sports. The weather wns perfect, a beautiful breeze which sprang up about eleven o'clock* being t-M that couid be desired by the owners of the competing sailing vessels, while it was not sufficient to make the water unpleasantly rough for the rowing boats, canoes, and catamarans. What with the revolving swing, picnic parties aud otlier agreeable m^us ox passing the time that were available on shore, all present, whether interested or not in the racing, lind aa opportunity of spending a really pleasant day, aud wc are glad to say that not one accident of any kind occurred to mar the enjoyment of the scene. We yesterday gave an account of the races that had taken place up tn the time our reporter left the port, aud we now complete the list. CATAMARAN RACK. Two miles, First prize, £3, second prize, £1. Mr Morrison's Paddle Wheel (Morrison) 1 Mr Bentley's Blue Bell (Knyvett) .., 2 Mr Freeman's Gem (Greenwood) ... 3 The Gem had evidently not been constructed with a view to racing, aod her ' crew ' showed considerable pluck in entering her against her more thoroughbred looking opponents. AMATEUR WHALE BOATS. Four miles, First Prize, £5 ; second prize, £2. This was merely a repetition of the Whale Boat Race. TWO-OARED BOATS, BY BOYS UNDEE FOURTEEN. One mile and a half. First prize, £2 ; second prize, £i ; third prize, ss. Mr J. Lowe's Attempt, ... 1 Mr Simpson's Three Niggers 2 Mr Jones' Toothache ... 3 A capital race in which thß youngsters displayed both pluck aud skill. DINGIES. One mile and a half. First prize £2 ; second prize £1. Mr Cross's Attempt ... 1 Mr Ericson's Toothache ... 2 Mr Morrison's Lighthouse ... 3 amateurs' race. Two-oared boats. First prize, £3. Mr Morrison's Coquette ... 1 Mr Scott's Edith ... 2 Mr J. Freeman's Forester ... 3 The sports were continued after the regatta had terminated, aud they in their turn guve way at dark to dauciug, which was kept up uutil the dancers were compelled to give iu through sheer weariness* after their two days' holiday.
