To the Editor of the Nelson Evening Mail.

Sir —Seeing by this day's telegram in this day's Examiner the alarming position the Maoris are now taking, I can oaly say that som»i few years ago I offered to Sir George Grey to put an entire stop to any future Maori war; and I am still prepared to curry out the same offer. ll' the present Government will find rations for those employed (and there will be no useless ones), and give £5 for every pair of ears, I think I can find volunteers sufficient to check the present disturbances, and get perfect peace for the future. Yours, &c, Maori-Pakeha. October 1.
