TELEGRAPHIC INTELLIGENCE.
Wellington, July 15. 2.30 p.m. Intelligence was received from Wauganui yesterday evening that a despatch from Colonel M'Donnell to Col. Gorton had reached that place, stating that Turo-turo-moki, a redoubt occupied by a detachment of 25 men of the Colonial force, had been attacked on Saturday night, 20 of whom were killed. Col. M'Donnell left Patea immediately with the Light Horse, and volunteers were called for at Wanganui to start for Patea immediately. Meetings have lately been daily held by the natives at Waitotara, and they have been urged either to join the Waikato men, who declare their intention to sweep the entire country to Wanganui, or else to remain neutral. The women and children, at Wairoa were ordered to go either to Patea or Wanganui ior protection. Captain Ross, Sergeant M'Farlane, and 18 others were killed at Turo-turo-moki, and the rest were found wounded in the trenches. Nothing* further was known in Wellington.
