ANOTHER MURDER [BY THE HAU-HAUS. Wellington, June 13. 11.30, a.m. The attempt in the Provincial Council last night to reduce the Superintendent's salary failed. Accounts have been received from Patea of the murder of Sergeaut Cahiil, residing near Katemarae, by Hau-haus, acting, it is said, under the instructions of the Maori King, in .expelling Europeans from their districts. Mr Bootle and Captain Ross, who were out in the Katexnarea District, have been ordered back to Patea by numbers of armed Kau-haus. Captain Cummiugs had marched out with all the meu that could be mustered, and Colonel Macdouald, although on leave, had started for Patea.
