ORIGINAL POETRY.
. * TO ROBERT. Oh! I'm so proud you sang of me, Dear Robert, magnet of my soul! # My thoughts for ever circle thee As stars revolve around the Pole. Thou art my flutt'ring heart's abode, It shakes, in love, for thee alone; E'en in my pray'rs to my God Thy name is mingled with my own. . For now thou art a part of me — .' ._.■*- My every hope affirms it so; If otherwise with thee it be, . ■ .. I. beg thee never let me know; For, 6U ! the happiness I feel **, In trusting I possess thy love, Is solace sweet in woe or weal —• A ray of joy from light above. Supremely thou art dear to me — Thau all I know art dearer still; The nectar cup of ecstacy That purest, truest-love can fill, Haß cheer'd me since thy peerless song, So.beautiful, so kind, and bright, Enshrouded me. in love's surprise, And bless'd you, Robert, to my eight! Bessie.
