MELBOURRNE, APRIL 27. In the import markets transactions have not been numerous, though in some instances extensive enough to bear a speculative character. Breadstuff's continue inactive. Wheat, for Adelaide, 6s 9d. An entire cargo of Chillian, amounting to 10,000 bushels, changed hands, to arrive, at 6s 6d, to one of the millers. Flour is moved off in moderate trade parcels at £17 to £17 10s. Maize, 5s to 5s 3d. Californian barley, 10,000 bushels sold, ex Douglas, to land, at os and 5s 3d. For rice there are more inquiries again. Quotations are firm at £23 10s. Hennessy's ease brandy has been placed at 28s 6d. Teas meet with a fair demand, sales, in • parcels, having come unper onr notice to the extent of equal to 600 chests, in whole and half chests, at from Is 4d to Is lOd, in bond. Candles sold to arrive, some 4,000 boxes have been disposed of at 13Sd to 14|d in bond, for various brands, such as Belmo'nt's, Cramer's, etc. The price of the 3Teva . Company's brand has been further advanced another halfpenny per pound, the selling rate now being Is 3Jd. Provisions obtain speculative attention, some 450 cases cheese, comprised in several shipments to arrive, having found a purchaser at fully up to Is G£d per pound. Malt, 25s per bushel.
