Chamber of Commerce Assists Scab Missioners
Dear Comrade, —A Mr. Potter, member of the Waihi Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce, sent an application to the Palmerston N. Chamber of Commerce, asking that they call a public meeting for the purpose of hear-
ing the arbitrationist side of the Waihi trouble. Tho P.N. Chamber of Commerce agreed to dn this, and a meeting addressed by Mr. Potter was held in Palreorstou N. last Friday.
. I wrote a letter to the Palmerston paper, pointing out to the Chamber of Commerce* that it would bo only common justice to hear both sides of tho dispute, and took the liberty of declaring that if they were agreeable, representatives of the Foderationists would be willing to also state their case publicly. I would suggest that an application similar to that of the arbitrationists, represented by Mr. Potter, be sent to the Palmerston N. Chamber of Commerce. This would at least give the Chamber of Commerce tho chance of being fair and dealing out equal treatment to both parties.
I am convinced that a good meeting could be got in Palmerston, particularly if Comrades Semplo, Webb or others of the leading spirits in the Federation would agree to speak.
The fiaxmilling area is beginning to move in our direction. A branch of the Socialist. Party has been formed at Foxton, and in a short time another will appear in Tokomaru and possibly Shannon.
You might kindly communicate with the officials of the Red Federation and
endeavor to have the meeting suggested arranged.—Yours, etc., ROD. ROSS.
