MIDDAY RESOLUTION.

At a public meeting held on Wed. nesday noon, 18th inst., at Wellington, H. E. Holland gave a moving address on the situation, and the following resolution was carried: —

"That this meeting reprobates the reign of lawless law at Waihi, and, while expressing astonishment and alarm at the monstrous subversion of law and order demonstrated in the arre*f o"f the miners who lawfully defended their hall against the wrecking attack of the hired toughs and scabs employed by the mine-owners and apparently organised under police direction, demands that they be immediately set at liberty and that the real law-break-ers and would-be murderers be tub jected to prosecution."
