THE BISHOP'S SERMON.

A REMONSTRANCE

Dear Mr. Editor, —With kind permission * I would like to say a few words re Bishop Crossjey's sermon to the un-justly-jailed miners at Mt. Eden.' I may say of all the cant and humbug to preach to a body of enlightened men it is about the worst. It is adding insult to injury. Had he gone and preached to Massey and taught him how to give a "square deal," such as Christ would have given,' then he would be doing his proper duty. That is the kind of sermon that keeps the masses away from churches. People are not ©oing to church to listen to cant of that kind. I am one of the stay-a-way#. Wellington. ELI&A TAYLOR.
