No new workers started to-day, and the mine officials are all suffering keenly from disappointment. A few trainloads of quartz have been carted to Waikino, but the trucks were filled prior to the strike. As far as the scabs in Waihi are concerned, they are outnumbered a long way by the police. It is estimated that fully 100 police are at present in Waihi. It is a Tattersall's sweep to a peanut that "Farmer Bill" Massey won't show any revenue next year. The present Government interference will cost a pretty penny. The full expenses will make interesting reading if they are ever to public view. The strikers are fully enjoying the events of the week, and are as full of determination as ever they were. The events of the past few weeks have turned the moderate-minded majority into revolutionaries, so when the slate is reckoned up capitalism will find what a blow it has* received from the Waihi strike.
