AT POST OFFICE SQUARE.

BIG MIDDAY MEETING

On Thursday of last week from 12 till £ a big crowd was addreesed by various speakers, including Ross (chair), Brico, Fraser, Semple, Cajiham and Hartley. The last-named strjek the business and clerkly attendance/ and reasoned with them at length for the good of their souls. When the crowd was largest, the following resolution was carried with two dissentients j the forest of hands looked inspiring, and cheers were also rendered: —"That this meeting of Wellington citizens calls upon the Government to immediately and unconditionally release the unionists of Waihi who have been, unjustly jailed for upholding recognised strike procedure and tactics."
