The anti-militarist element at Huntly showe no sign of diminishing. ' JSve youths, named 3Bdward Turton, James Waite, William R. Eayner, Arthur Cadman and G. W. Valentine, were recently sentenced to a month in Auckland jail -for not complying with the defence laws. They -were accorded tin ovation on their departure "outboard the train for their destination. It is anticipated that tfae sentences "will he considerably reduced. An unusually ilarge -charge abeej; has been set down for hearing at the Lower Hutt Court xra August -7. Besides a lot of miscellaneous «ases, there are over "25 Territorials to wm© up on various jcharges. . Three Petone Territorials sleeiikia to go to jail last week ratJier than pay the fines imposed by the magistrate a fortnight ago. The names of the trio are E. Stephens, Nunn and J. Jenkins.
