WANGANUI AND THE STRIKE.
Organiser Wanted,
Sir. — It was with much regret 1 read in Tub Maowlano Wohkkr that the Wanganui branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners declined to receive a delegate, from the N.Z.F.L. So far, no union in this town has assisted the men now on strike, which, to my mind, is a very serious reflection upon a town which has only just recently cast what one may call an absolutely convincing majority Labor vote, as it did when Mr. Veitch, M.P.. was elected. Now, as far as I can remember, no organiser or delegate of the N.Z.F.L. lias held any meeting or addressed any organisation in this town for over 12 months, or maybe the last two years. How, then, can we expect the unions of this town to uphold the Federation when they know absolutely nothing about its policy except what they bear from tho other crowd and absorb from reading all the nice tilings the press publishes about the N.Z.F.L. (and it is seldom that more than one issue is printed that docs not say something against the Federation) r However, we possess at least three real live unions bore, viz., the General Laborers, who havo just initiated a monthly series of smokers, socials, ct.f.. the Drivers, and the Watcrsiders : and I think thoso unions would give a Federation delegate a good bearing if they wero approached on the subject. In conclusion, let mo urge upon the executive the need for a visit bero from an organiser.—NOT A CAPITALIST.
