INTERNATIONALISM.

Workers in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark will Stand Together in Big Industrial Struggle.

A step toward greater solidarity of organised Labor in tho three Scandinavian countries was taken at Gothen- 1 burg at the recent conference- of representatives of the trade unions rof Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. The most important agreement reached by tho delegates was to the effect that in the event of a strike or lockout involving at least 20 per cent, of the membership of tho Federation.';of Labor of any one of the countries, strike benefits will bo paid by the organised workers of the other two' countries. Thin plan of mutual support in timcß of great industrial conflicts is part of the Socialist programme, and its adoption by a delegate body of the trade union leaders of three nations is haiL ed as a great step in advance. One of its logical effects will bo tho impossibility to get tho workers of these throe countries ever again to. make war upon each other in the event the ruling class should try to make a military demonstration. The delegates recommend, in order to carry cut this plan of nil evnationa' mutual aid, that the Federation of Labor of each nation bo empowered to levy special assessments upon members at work. It was agreed also that the closest possible relations be established between tho trade unions of each country, to the end that concerted action may bo taken in tho event of combined action on the part of organised capital. The proposition will be submitted to the next annual convention of the Federation of Labor of each country'for final adoption. Because of tho widespread sentiment in favor of the plan;'it is virtually certain that- the recommendation of the Gothenburg conference will be adopted and the plan put in operation immediately.
