MILLERTON MATTERS.
Agreement Deadlock and Industrial Solidarity—Passive Registers.
How's this for an example of th« superiority of direct action over th* old-stylo Arbitration Court crawl? Sunday, 28th April: Meeting Granity Miners' Union. Report received of deadlock over agreement. Immediate and unanimous decision to hold mass meeting of minors at Waimnngaroa on Wednesday unless demands granted in meantime. Tuesday, 30th: Notice posted up by Union secretary: "Mass meeting will not bo held as company has granted men's demands." Here's to industrial solidarity and more power to N.Z.F.L. Comrade Webb had somo stirring words to say to tho Passive Resistere after the Union meeting last Sunday, and the lads appreciated his message of encouragement. They have not yet been tested, but when they are the? will be found solid in their determination not to give way. It would b* interesting to see tho Greymoutli Chamber of Commerce advice put into practice—viz., that all adults who encourage passive resistors should be proceeded against. There would be 6ee» hero the unique sight of a whole towtfcship marching off to jail. The Socialist branch here shows an encouraging increase in membership each week. A larger room will soon be required for meetings.—REVElLLS
