WELLINGTON WORDS.
"Socialism and Money" was the title of K. 11. Hartley's lecture in the King's Theatre last Sunday. Tlie attendance was large, interest keen and speaker brilliant. Hartley' 6 term in Wellington having concluded, the Socialist Party has decided to continue Sunday meetings in the King's Theatre. The speakers oo Sunday next will be as advertised. Bcforo a fair audience, notwithstanding the wild night, Edward Hartley's Recital on Wednesday, May 1, was ft splendid exhibition of cultured and magnetic elocution. The character sketches and recitations were a treat to all present, laughter an 4 tears following hot upon each other. May Daj was kept up in the .dx»p« of a midday meeting, when Frank Freeman spoko on the spirit of th« day, and held a good audience interested. Bob Boss also spoke a pieoa. Visits to Johnsonvillo and PetoiU were among Hartley's doings during his final -days with us. Needless to say, plain speech and resistless logic mad* 1 a fine impression. The Socialist Party's May Day so--1 cial on last Monday night was a gratifying succesß. On Sunday afternoon nest a m«JI meeting to protest against conscription will he hold at the Post Offio» Square. Roll up! Hartley and Withy (Single Taxer) debated on Tuesday night; report next week.
