THE PANAMA CANAL.
Alleged Danger of Destruction by a Volcanic Eruption. A despatch from the Colon division engineer on the Panama Canal reports thut steam, smoke, and sulphur are issuing from a volcano that has been dormant for many centuries, underlying tho Culebra, which has been cut by tho canal. A pessimistic feeling obtains as to tho safely of the canal.
