OTIRA TUNNEL WORKERS.

Tho Otira tunnel workers are seeking improved conditions of work and wages, and as they could come to no terms with the contractors they have placed their grievances in tho hands of the Federation of Labor. The men are asking for Is. per day rise all round, which will be equivalent to Cd. if the bonus is stopped, which they wish it to be; 48 hours' pay per week for 46 hours' work bank to bank; and wet time, six hours' work for eight hours' pay, but wet country to be decided on by a Government inspector and not by the contractors, as at present. The two points on which the issue hangs are tho bank to bank and wet time. All work will go on as usual till the Federation has decided how it will act.
