Socialists in tbo convention of the United Mino Workers of America sucooeded by a largo majority in anuvnding the constitution of the organisation to permit it to endorse the Socialist party. , Tiie clause of the constitution forbidding the miners to take any political stand was stricken out by the amendment. A resolution endorsing the Socialist party was previously voted down as being contrary to the constitution, ruid a substitute declaring "the miners should unite on the political as well as the industrial field " was adopted. The preamble to the constitution also •was amended to read the minerp are entitled to "full value of their toil" instead of to "an equitable share."
