A WISE MAN OF THE EAST.
Sir,—l see by the_ local papers tliat a new prophet has risen in Israel, even one called O. Cooper, who dwelle.th in a far city called Mnsterton (which is towards the East, whence all the wise men come), and who, being Inspired, has discovered and patented a braiidnew cure for all the labor troubles of this distressful country—i.e., by removing the poll-tax and flooding the country with Chows. Now, I would like to remind him that there are other and bettor w.iys. One was invented find patented by the French people and called the Revolution. That plan might be tried on Mr. Cooper for a start. Another, and perhaps a milder plan, ia to make New Zealand a Socialistic country. Thon friend Cooper would be a worker like everybody else, and would loam to think and talk sense.—Yours, etc.,
