WALTER THOMAS MILLS.

Sir, —I have watched the career of Uio above 'person since ho landed in Now Zealand. I have bought ami read his book. 1 hoard him speak <vt every mooting he held iv Auckland, including the debate with Scott Bennett. I heard 4iim give an awful indictment of war and militarism, which was a really powerful and telling speech. From fche first meeting, when ho started to "boost" himself and his unity scheme in no uncertain manner, ho "jarred" on mc. Next I saw him "hedge" on the military question. After this I witnessed the Opera House incident re tlio Scott Bennett challenge and his climb down. I also saw and heard his lamo attempt in the debate, and I felt for him that night. He seemed to mc to be there to take his whipping for half the "gate." The exposure in the "Democrat" and the railway pass I do not comment on. In all he has told of his trip to England and what Jie saw there, ho has never mentioned such men as Gray son, Tom Mann, or even the renowned Blatcliford. I have taken the "Clarion" from its inception, and I have failed to so© any reference to this great man Mills in it. Have you noticed tint his work, "The Struggle for Existence," is copyright? Not so with Blatchford'e "Britain for the British." I am going to hear him in Auckland at his coming course of lectures, and I would be really glad if he could remove the impression from my tnind that he is first and foremost for Mills and the workers last, and that Ills policy is to "run. with the hare and hunt with the hoinids." Ho has now got control of a paper in which he is still •misrepresenting the truth on many matters. "' .
