P. H. HICKEY AT WAIHI.
The Miners' Hall at Waihi Avas packed with an intelligent and enthusiastic audience to hear Comrade Hickey deliver an address on. "The Federation of Labor: What it is, and Avhat it seeks to accomplish." The speaker, during an earnest ana i clear address, was frequently api plauded by his huge audience. He traced in a masterly .manner the birth, groAvth and expansion of the Federation, and pointed out the fallacy of the statements made that it® policy Avas destructive. He shoAved the beivefits to be arrived at by organisation and appealed to all to organise- and help break the chains that bound them. He also dealt with the criticism of the miners' neAV agreement by Mr. Rcardon, of Wellington. The speaker concluded a most interesting address -Avith a strong appeal to all to further the' interests of the Avbrking-clase, both economically and politically. ■During the evening the chairman received telegrams congratulating Comrade Hickey on his election as the Socialist candidate, and wishing him every success in his light, and also ur-ino- the worker® of Ohinemuri to their efforts to elect Comrade P H.
