RUNANCA SOCIALIST WOMEN.
On a recent Saturday at Runanga a banquet Avas held to celebrate the openiino- of a Women's Socialist Branch. Very gratifying and significant was it to the male section of the Socialists to see such a good crmvd present, Ayhen President R. Knight took the chair. The tables had been beautiiully laid by a ladies' committee. The following toast list was gone through:— Kimawa Women's Socialist Party," coupled "with the names of Comrades br. Whittle and P. C. AVebb; ''International Socialist Party," proposed by Com. R. Knight, and supported by Com John Price; "N.Z. Federation of Labor," proi>osed by Com! J. Arbuckle, supported by Com. J. Glover; "Success; to the Maoriland Worker, proposed by Com. W. Fisher, supported by Com.' T. Armstrong; "Freedom, proposed by Com. W. Booth, supported_by Comrades Hunter and Piner; Ihe Ladies," proposed by Miss. Lily Hyndman and supported by Com. Mrs. McTaoga,rt. Songs Avere rendered during the'evening by Mrs. Richmond Mr. H. Lawrence, Mr. T. Irvine, Miss McTaggart, and several others. Mr. JBaddeley gave a recitation. About dv ladies gave their names in as desirous of becoming members, Avhich augurs Avell for the cause of Socialism in Runanga. One of the pleasantest evenings ever held in this toAvn terminated by the singing of "The Red Flag.' — W. Booth.
