Westport Laborers.

At our conference on Saturday last a goldbug in the shape of an ironfounder turned up, and stated out loud that his interest and the interest of the workers Averc identical, and wanted our help to prevent £1,000,000 (one million pounds sterling) being sent out of the country for machinery that he and others were able and willing to make. Of course, his interest was evident, but what he did not tell us was wdicre we camo in. He forgot to explain how, if we assisted, it would raise our wages, shorten our hours, cheapen commodities, or reduce the number of unemployed.—T.S.
