THE CO-OPERATIVE SYSTEM

At the adjourned special meeting -of the Waihi Miners' Union Mr. W. E. Pa.rry presided, and there were about 500 members present. After a good deal of discussion the executive's recomendations, introducing the co-oper-ative system, were unanimously adopted, and it was further decided that the system come into operation within a month from date. Tenders will be put on the board as usual, the co-oper-ative arrangements being made amongst the men who are the success ful tenderers. An amendment to the effect that the new system be introcTueed at the termination of each existing job was lost, only some 20 members supporting it. The mover of the ameridment said he was pleased to see

the manner in which the meeting had been conducted, and the unanimity which existed among those present. The full reference has been submitted to the mines owners with a request for a conference.
