Stronach Morris, Dunedin, report for week ending Thursday, 17th November:— Fat Cattle.—On account of the double market, there was a large entry of fat cattle yesterday, 360 being forward. The market opened on a par with last week’s rates, but as the sale progressed, prices improved to the extent of 10s to £1 per head. Quotations: Extra prime heavy bullocks to £25 17s 6d; prime £2O 2s 6d to £22 12s 6d; medium £l6 to £l7 17s 6d; light and unfinished £l2 17s 6d to £l4 7s 6d; extra prime cows and heifers to £l6 17s 6d; prime £l3 10s to £l4 12s 6d; medium £lO 12s 6d to £l2 17s 6d; light and un.nished £5 7s 6d to £9 17s 6d. Fat Sheep.-—There was a large entry of sheep, 2600 being forward. Prices at the commencement of the sale were easier and continued to fall as the sale progresed. Over the concluding stages all sheep can be quoted fully 2s to 3s per head below last week’s rates. Quotations: Extra prime woolly wethers to 40s; prime woolly 32s 6d to 355; medium and light 24s 6d to 29s 9d; extra prime shorn wethers to 30s; prime shorn 24s to 27s 6d; medium and light shorn 20s to 23s 6d; extra prime woolly ewes to 355; prime woolly 27s to 30s; medium light woolly 20s to 22s 6d; extra prime shorn ewes to 275; prime shorn ewes to 275; prime shorn 21s to 23s 6d; medium and light shorn 15s to 18s 6d. Fat Lambs —There was a smaller entry of lambs penned than was forward last week, and prices consequently showed an advance. Extra prime heavy lambs to 33s 3d; prime 24s 3d; prime 24s 3d to 28s; medium 22s to 23s 6d; light 19s to 21s 3d. Fat Pigs.—There were 182 fat pigs penned and prices for these can be quoted on last week’s rates. Store Pigs.—A yarding of 102 store pigs was forward and these again met with a good sale, prices being fully up to last week’s rates. Oats.—There is very little enquiry for these at present and the market is quiet. A grade Gartons are nominally worth 2s lOd on trucks, country sidings. What.—There is no railing Wheat offering and fowl wheat meets with a steady enquiry at up to 6s 3d! ex store, Dunedin. Potatoes. —The jseason is now practically finished and it is difficult to make sales of old potatoes except at a very low price. Freshly picked lines are nominally worth £2 10s to £3 ex store, Dunedin. Chaff. —Sufficient is coming forward to meet the local enquiry and the only demand is for prime oaten sheaf which is bringing up to £6 10s ex store, Dunedin. Inferior quality is unsaleable. Sheepskins.—We held our usual fortnightly sheepskin sale _on Tuesday when we offered a fairly large catalogue to a good attendance of buyers. Competition was keen though prices generally were from a par to -Jd per lb easier on last sale’s rates.
