WHAT THE MAN AT THE CORNER SAYS:
That the farmer has every reason to be pleased with the recent heavy falls of rain. That the ground has received a thorough drenching and with warm soil conditions a phenomenal growth is noticeable in all parts of the district.
That indications are for a very early season—strawberries will be picked at Ettrick over the weekend and cherries will be ready in a fortnight. That the Tangshi cherry is ripe already and one or two people can say that they have tasted the first ripe cherries of the season.
That thinning operations are m full swing and already the apricots are the size of a pigeon egg. That every tree is carrying its full quota of fruit and prospects are for a bumper crop. That a slight frost was experienced on Sunday morning in the township, potatoes being nipped, registered, one grower using the rgistered, one grower using the fire pots. That the sewerage scheme is expected to be completed in 10 week’s time. Considerable difficulty is being experienced in the main drain due to the very gravelly nature of the ground, making tunnelling operations very slow.
That Messrs Laloli Bros, have a change advt. appearing in this issue.
That the Golf Club played the final match of the season last Saturday. That tennis is now in full swing and it seems that the courts are going to be well patronised this season.
