Stronach Morris, Dunedin, report for week ending Thursday, 27th October:—

Fat Cattle. —There was a fairly large entry of fat cattle yesterday, 280 being yarded. Competition was not nearly as keen as at the last sale and prices for heavy weight bullocks showed a drop of £2 10s to £2 15s per head 'on the previous week’s rates. Cows [ and heifers were easier by 30s. I Extra prime heavy bullocks to £24 7s 6d; prime heavy £lB 2s 6d to £l9 2s 6d; medium £l3 2s 6d to £ls 2s 6d; light down to £8 17s 6d; extra prime cows and heifers £l4 17s 6d; prime £ll 12s 6d to £l3 2s 6d; medium £9 7s 6d to £l2 2s 6d; light down to £5 17s 6d.

Pat Sheep.—There was a very heavy yarding of sheep forward for yesterday’s sale, approximately 3,000 being penned. Owing to the over supply, the market generally showed a drop, prices being fully 3s to 5s below last week’s average prices for all classes. Towards the close of the sale, sales were hard to effect with the result that there was a large number of sheep passed. Extra prime heavy woolly wethers to 425, prime heavy 34s to 36s 6d; medium 27s to 31s; light down to 235; extra prime heavy woolly ewes to 30s; prime heavy 26s to 28s 6d; medium 22s 6d to 25s 6d; light down to 16s; extra prime heavy shorn wethers to 28s 9d; prime heavy 24s 9d to 265; medium 21s 6d to 235; light down to 18s; extra prime heavy shorn ewes to 28s 6d; prime heavy 19s to 21s; medium 16s 6d to 19s; light down to 14s. Spring Lambs.—There was a small yarding and prices generally showed an appreciation of 2s to 3s per head on last sale’s rates. Fat Pigs.—There was a small entry of fat pigs and these met with very keen competition, prices showing a substantial rise on last week’s rates.

Oats. —The market is very quiet, the demand being limited. A grade Gartons are bringing up to 2s lOd on trucks, country sidings. Wheat. —There is no milling wheat offering and fowl wheat meets with a steady inquiry at up to 6s 3d ex store, Dunedin.
