RIFLE CLUB NEWS

On Wednesday, October 5, the annual meeting and presentation of trophies of the Roxburgh Defence Rifle Club was held in the town hall. A good number of members were present. Mr J. A. McDonald was re-elected president and Mr A. H. Webster reelected handicapper. After the report and balance sheet was read and adopted the circular letter issued by the N.R.A. dealing with the formation of Sniper Platoons was discussed, when this matter was finally brought to a close the presentation of trophies was proceeded with, the winners are as follows: Championship Belt: J. A. MfeDonald. Club Champion: H. J. Vernon. President’s Cup: A. McPherson. White Cup: J. Dunlay. It was decided that the opening day be Saturday, October 8 and that Ettrick be invited up to shoot on that day. The match resulted in a win for Roxburgh, the best score for the day was that of W. Hiscock with 64 although J. McDonald put on the possible at the 200 yds range. The next two Saturdays will be devoted to class-firing. The first of the competitions will be held on Saturday, October 29.
