INQUEST

The adjourned inquest on Mirs Alice Yates of Waikari who was killed on September 24 at Craigellachie when a ear in which she was a passenger capsized, was continued at Lawrence on Monday before Mr J. E. Keenan J.P., act-ing-coroner, and a jury of four. Further evidence concerning the over-turning of the car was given by the other passengers, Jesse Charles Nicholls, Leslie Robert Nicholls (who was actually the driver of the car) and Adeline Mary Nicholls. Dr Sutherland stated the results of his medical examination. Constable Parkhill and Duncan Crawford, resident in Craigellachic also gave evidence. The jury returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence that death was due to shock as a result of a motor car in which she was a passenger running off the road and capsizing. A rider was added to the effect that on the evidence given the jury regarded the crossing over the railway at Craigellachic as a dangerous one.
