THE LAND BOARD.
Tho weekly meeting of the Board was held on Wednesday, and was attended by the Chief Commissioner and Messra Green, Clark, Reeves, and Bradsb&w. The following business was transacted : The application of the Caswell Sound Company, for a license to quarry marble at Caswell Sound was again brought under the notice of the Board by tha Chief Commissioner.—lt was explained by Mr Macdermott that Mr Wad 9 was to appear that day aa representing the holders of the prospecting licens*. and that he would submit a new application having for its object the settlement of any difficulty between the Caswell Sound i Company and Messrs Turnley, Smith, I and Co- Mr Wade had unfortunately been prevented from attending, and he suggested a further postponement of the appHcation.—Thia waa agreed to. Subsequently, Mr Wade presented himself before the Board, and handed in a document appointing him agent on behalt of the original prospectors, and be olso corroborated what Mr Macdermott had said" in respect to arrangements having been effected.—The Board recommended Mr Wade to see Mr Macdermott. On the suggestion of the Chief Commissioner, Mr J. R. Campbell waa appointed Ranger for the Waikaia hundred* in terms of section 39. It was also resolved that the ordinary regulations b» adopted for 1381, and that a pound be proclaimed. Run 106.—Messrs Bathgato and Reeves reported in favor of opening tbo Run on deterred-payments, and after some conversation the following resolution was minuted "Tho Board approves the suggestion contained in tho Oommisj sioners' report, and rescinds the resolution of January 21st, 1880 aa far as it applies to Run 10t>, aud now determines, with the approval of tha Government, that the whole of the land within the said Run 106 is required far sale as rural landa under part 2of th* Land Act, 1877.''
