The death of Mr. David Greig, «£ r Pahautanui, occurred recently at the > age of 68 years. Mr. Greig, who was born in .Scotland, came to New Zealand ; at an early age and for the past 40 years had been engaged in farming in t the Pahautanui district. His widow and four daughters, Mesdames L. R. 5 Whyte (Tokomaru), F. L. Corny (Masterton), G. C. Davis (Paremata), and G. V. Smith (Wairoa), and four sous, Messrs. A. Greig (Porirua), D. A. Greig (Pahautanui), R. Greig (Whangarci) and R. C. Greig (Tokomaru), ar«left to mourn their loss. Lance-Corporal J. S. Carter, who has “ been killed in action overseas, was tho il third son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Carter, oof Featherton Street, Palmerston t North, and tho distressing news was ’ received only a week after advice had ° como through that his brother, Private W. L. Carter, had been wounded. Lance e Corporal Carter was born in 3912 and - educated at the Terrace End School and ° the Palmerston North Boys’ High f School.
