Transport of Racehorses
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 17. The Minister of Transport (Mr. O’Brien) announced to-day that, after a discussion with his colleague (Mr. Sullivan), and in consideration of representations received, it had been decided to reissue the warrant limiting road transport of racehorses. The new warrant, to be gazetted to-day, will permit the transport of horse by motor vehicle for any part or parts of a journey provided the aggregate distance the horse is carried by motor vehicle is not greater than 30 miles in all. In other words, a horse may be walked at any stage of the journey, but the aggregate motor vehicle transport during the journey must not exceed 30 miles. The Minister added that gas producer vehicles were definitely included in the restrictions on account of the situation regarding tyres and spare parts and tho difficulties of replacement of vehicles.
