Most Unfortunate!

U.S. NAVY GUNNERS SHOT DOWN THEIR OWN PLANES Received Thursday, 8.50 p.m. NEW YORK, March 16. American Navy gunners during the Sicilian campaign shot down 20 American C 47 transports by mistake, said Cergeant Jack Foisie, correspondent of the Army newspaper Stars and Stripes, addressing the Commonwealth Club at San Francisco, says the Associated Press. Foisie said the American planes flew over the Navy gunners just after a heavy German aerial attack and the Navy gunners kept on shooting. Foisie said the incident was unfortunate and was an example of misunderstanding due to lack of experience.
