Cinema in the Church A progress report on the development ot‘ the scheme for the use of the cinema in churches was presented by the Rev. 1). N. Pryor, convener of tho Life and Work Committee, at a meeting of tho Auckland Presbytery. He said that a National Cinema Council with headquarters in Auckland was being set up mainly to purchase films, cinema equipment. and other visual aids for use in the churches concerned. As there was difficulty in securing suitable films, it was felt that a ceutral council would be able to obtain (hem more easily than individual churches. Indifferent Voter In striking contrast to the zeal which prompted the suffragettes to agitato for votes for women is the indifference of some women to the exercise of the franchise. A young Auckland business woman was called on in connection with the licensing poll, but, although a car was placed at her disposal so that she might lose no time in reaching the polling booth, she declared that she was not interested in the election. J.i was pointed out to her how other women had suffered to secure for her the privileges she enjoyed, but she still refused to. go. and vote.
