General Notes
McLean Street is to be resprayed with tar. This could be classiiied as a waste of public money. Spraj'ing the surface will not take out any of the bumps that make the stretch of road from Vogel Street to the Ngawapurua Hall the worst from here to Wellington. The Main Highways Board should bo asked rather to relay the whole length at its earliest opportunity. When the concrete footpath was laid outside the Bank of New Zealand recently, it was thought it would stand any fair wear and tear. However, a road roller could hardly come under that category and when one ventured on tho edge of the path yesterday, it did no good to the nice new concrete. Borough councillors will certainly take a dim view’ of the action of the P.W.D. driver in charge of the vehicle. The medical superintendent of the Dannevirkc Hospital, Dr. J. S. Beebie, reported at the monthly meeting yesterday that S 3 patients had been admitted during February. Thirty-one men, 27 women and 22 children were remaining in hospital at February 29. Matron Liepst reported that February had been a moderately busy month and acknowledged a number of gifts including some from a Woodville donor.
