Whakarongo
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tho School Committee met recently, Mr. E. Heneghan presiding. The school roll at the moment is 57. A grant was made to purchase, infant room books and wooden construction sets. The contractor has completed an extension of the asphalt area on the south side of the school. Word was received from ! tho Education Board that the school j environment certificate had been en- . dorsed for 1943. The householders’ bi- . ennial meeting Avill be held on April ' 24. A former pupil of the Whakarongo | School, John Coutts, and late of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, . has secured a position in the engineer- , iug department of the telegraph office, Wellington. He will continue studies ’ at Victoria University. A competition match was played recently among the junior members of [ the Tennis Club, the winners being M. ConAvay and T. Lawrence who will be presented with the Johanson trophy. Miss C. W. Vautier was in charge of the games for tho afternoon and the junior members served afternoon tea. Mrs. H. Gore is staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Vautier, con--1 valescing after a recent operation.
