P. and T. Women's League
The first meeting of the year of the P. and T. Women’s League was held on Tuesday. A letter was received from Mrs. W. J. Minogue tendering her resignation due to Mr. Minogue’s retirement. The resignation was received with regret; Mrs. Minogue was the originator of the Palmerston North branch and she worked with untiring energy to make it a success. The next meeting is the second birthday of the league. Mrs. Minogue made reference to the retirement of Mr. Ineson and Mr. Velvin. Mrs. Pullar (vice-president), in presenting Mrs. Minogue with a Bhoulder sprav and small gift from the league, voiceu the regret of all the members at her departure. Mrs. Velvin and Mrs. Barkwith also made reference to Mrs. Minogue’s excellent qualities. Padre Hyde gave a most interesting talk on life on a hospital ship, a vessel which was a gift from the Dutch people to Australia and New Zealand. It was a very luxurious ship, built especially for hot climates, being air conditioned throughout. It spent some time in the islands; finally going to Australia where it was fitted as a hospital ship . to accommodate 250 patients. It was , run entirely by the Dutch, the cabin i boys and waiters being very able Javan- » ese boys. It was a most palatial vessel, i the lounge having a bronze floor for dancing; there were about 50 loud- ' speakers, and an excellent canteen, ' and an operating theatre with all the ■ latest equipment.
