Terrace End Branch Of League of Mothers
Dahlias in every shade intermingled with fern formed the bright decorations, at yesterday’s meeting of the Terrace End branch of the Leaguo of Mothers, Mrs. S. J. Parkes presiding oyer the usual largo attendance, A special welcome was extended to a number of members who had been indisposed, and a number of visitors. Mrs. Ladyman was thanked for contributions of books and donations of goods, etc., were solicited for the Patriotic Shop later in the year. It was announced that the. choir was being reformed with Mrs. M. | Pearce as leader. There was an im-, pressive admission service conducted by the president, assisted by Mesdames J. L. Davies and P. Lucas, vice-presi-dents, the new members being Miss Audrey McDonald, Mesdames Strode Penny, M. Pearce, F. M. Adams, I. M. Sutherland, M. J. Bailey, Tier, Adams, Stovenson, Stone and Oarwell Cook. Mrs. B. Holmes then took charge of| the programme ■with community singing led by Mesdames Garrick and Humphreys, Mrs. O. M. Christiansen presiding at the piano. The speaker for the afternoon was Miss E. E. Stephens, principal of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School, and her subject, ‘‘Child Psychology/’ which members followed with deep appreciation. Mrs. F. Lucas conveyed the vote of thanks. The happy thought was given by Mrs. T. Garrick. Appreciation was expressed of the floral decorations arranged by Mesdames Silson and Devey, also to Mrs. C. Speight who took charge of the creche.
