Air. P. Smith presided over Alessrs. England, Galloway, Carmichael, Fredrickson, Forbes, Harding, Crosse and Bullick at a meeting of the Dannovirke Hospital Board. An apology was received from Air. J. Millar, who is making good progress towards recovery. The Dannevirko Town Clerk, in reference to the hospital water supply, stated in a letter that tho borough council already had the matter in hand and was preparing a report on the supply of water to the higher levels including the hospital. The results of the engineer’s investigations will be communicated to the hospital board in about two months. The chairman thought that now the dry season was past, no further trouble should be experienced until next year when some satisfactory arrangements would have been completed. Air. England suggested the erection of a signpost to tho maternity annexe and this was agreed to. Mr. Forbes asked if there was anything further to report regarding the proposed Woodville Maternity Hospital. Members were being accused of lack of interest. Air. Smith said he could assure the public that the insinuation was without foundation. No reply had yet been received from tho DirectorGeneral and until it was, nothing further could be done. As soon as a reply was received they could go ahead with drafting plans. A further letter is to bo sent as a result of Air. Forbes’ query. Further applications aro to be asked for to replaco Air. Philips of the office staff, who is keen to join tho forces, and a discussion took place as to the best typo of person for whom to apply. Air. Harding thought as the appointment was only a wartime one, further inducement should be offered by a wage of £S per week. It was finally decided to try for two females to fill the post.
