Y.W.C.A. Representative’s Miniature World Tour

An English visitor who plans to arrive in New Zealand in May is Mrs. Hilda Grenfell, who has been, till recently, president of the Y.W.C.A. of Great Bri tain and is now a vice-president. The president is now Lady Helen Graham, the Queen’s Lady-In-Waiting. Mrs. Grenfell has been granted priority for air travel and has been visiting the Y.W.C.A. in India as the representative of the British Y.W.C.A. She is spending two months in Australia, where she is visiting the association’s more extensive centres in each State and seeing as much as possible of war service work for service girls. Her intimate knowledge of similar work done by the Y.W.C.A. in Great Britain will help the Australian associa tion in the development of its work for women. The Y.W.C.A. in Great Britain has a particularly wide scope because the association is organised by the Government as the special agency responsible for the welfare of the women serving in the forces. In a letter to Miss E. Law, National secretary of the New Zealand Y.W.C.A., Mrs. Grenfell says: “Thanks to the nature of my air priority I shall be making a miniature world tour to get to you and so shall have news to bring you from many interesting places, as well as from England.’’
