Mrs. 11. Barnicoat, of Wellington, Dominion president of the Women’s Institutes, was a welcome on Tuesday at the annual meeting of Kimbolton W. 1., the Institute over which she had formerly presided for a number of On Monday morning at Peatherston there closed a long and useful life in the passing of Miss Harriet Card, Mayoress ; of Peatherston for the past 27 years, and j Peatherston and Martinborough repreI sentative on the Wairarapa Hospital j Board for many years. For nearly 20 i years she was a regular Sunday visitor to j the South Wairarapa Hospital at Greytown, distributing fruit and delicacies to all patients. | Mrs. E. Lovell, who has been manager of the City Council showroom for the past i four and a half years, has accepted a secretarial post in Auckland and leaves for tnat centre after Easter. Mrs. Lovell has made a host of friends in Palmerston North and will be missed in many circles, particularly the Repertory and Little Theatre Societies, in which she has given notable assistance in both the acting and production sides. Mrs. Lovell Is also a keen member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, and is at present a member of the Dominion Council. She has given her support to all patriotic activities and is a useful member of the A.N.A. Club Committee, serving regularly as a hostess.
