Red Cross Society
The Nursing and Transport Divisions and the Men’s Detachment of the Palmerston North Red Cross Society held a social and dance to bid farewell to Sister Dalgleish who will shortly be leaving Palmerston North, and to welcome home Miss Theona Rose, who for the past; two years has been serving overseas as a V.A.D. Floral tokens were presented to the guests by Mrs. G. Lyne (Centre Commandant) and the customary musical honours followed. The president of the Palmerston North Sub-Centre (Dr. Duncan Cook), in making a presentation to Sister Dalgleish, paid tribute to the valuable and untiring assistance she had given Io the society. In spite of her own professional duties she had most willingly devoted time to the training of V.A.’s in home nursing and first aid courses. In reply, Sister Dalgleish said that the response and keen interest of the V.A.’s had been gratifying. She also paid tribute to the very efficient manner in which the girls in the Transport Division carried out their duties on the ambulance, and to the interest that the Men’s Division had shown in he activitities of the Red Cross. Mr. A. R. McKegg (chairman of the executive) welcomed Miss Rose back to the society, remarking upon her services as a V.A.D. Items were contributed by Mrs. Petre, Mr. Leighton, Mrs. Dymock, and a ballet by the pupils of Miss Lorna McAffer.
