Patriotic Shop

Last week was taken by the Kairanga County, each of the ridings taking their turn in stocking and stalling the shop. These were Wilson, Whakarongo, Te Arakura, Newbury, Karere, Longburn, Kairanga, Tiritea, Aokautere, Linton, and Kelvin Grove. The Women’s Institute in each district organised the efforts. Mi*. L. C. Pickering (county engineer) was convener. The abundance of flowers and vegetables, cakes, preserves and other goods made an attractive display. Receipts were £149 12s 2d. Goods for prizes were donated as follow: lOlbs. honey, Tiritea; smocked frock, Linton; mystery parcel, Aokautere; half dozen cups and saucers, Milson; _ iced cake, Whakarongo; wooden tray, Kelvin Grove; set of three Jugs, Newbury; sack of potatoes, Te Arakura; box of groceries, Kairanga; pair tea, towels, Karere; wool bed cover, Longburn.
