Many German Supply Ships Sunk Off Norway
(Special Correspondent.) Received Sunday, 9.30 p.m. RUGBY, March 11. British submarines operating in northern waters continue to inflict severe losses on enemy coastal convoys attempting to maintain lines of supply between Norway and Germany. During recent patrols, says an Admiralty communique, a supply ship of large size and three medium ships were sunk while five other supply vessels, all medium sized, were damaged. The large vessel was in a convoy of four ships escorted by armed trawlers. During a recent patrol in northern waters a Norwegian submarine, tho Ula, sank two enemy supply ships of 3500 and 2000 tons and a small escort vessel. Torpedo hits were also obtained on a 6000-ton tanker, and two supply ships of 4500 and 3000 tons. It was not possible to observe the full results oi these attacks as the Ula was counterattacked and compelled to take avoiding action. This brings the total tonnage sunk during the Ula’s nine months of operational service to at least 25,000 tons and she has damaged many other ships.
