Four Soldiers Entertained
On Thursday afternoon Sgt. T. Tuohy, Cpl. Ralph Ewen, Ptes. R. Baker and V. Boyens were the guests of the Pahiatua Patriotic Society when opportunity was taken to make the customary presentation. Mr. J. Hutton presided in the absence of Mr. W. A. Carthew, and called upon Mr. D. C. Pryor who, on behalf of the R.S.A. wished them God speed and a safe return. Mr. Hutton in the absence of Mr. A. W. Bisset spoke on behalf of the people of the county and wished the men the best of luck and an early return to Pahiatua. In making the presentation Mr. S. J. Judd said that on behalf of the people of the borough and the Patriotic Society he wished the departing guests all the best. He knew the people of Pahiatua would pull their weight to bring nearer the day when they could extend a right royal welcome to the men returning to their homes.
