South African War Veterans

The annual meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the South African War Veterans’ Association was held recently. The president’s report and the secretary’s balance-sheet showed the branch to be in a healthy conuition financially and otherwise. It was announced that the Dominion conference would be held in Palmerston North next August when delegates from all parts of New Zealand would be pre sent. It was also decided to hold a re-

union of South African veterans from all over the Dominion during confer euce week and the executive was 1 authorised to go ahead with the preliminary arrangements, and to report progress at the next genoral meeting. The following veterans were elected as office-bearers for the ensuing year:— President, Mr. R. A. Metcalfe; secretary, Mr. Crawford; assistant-secretary, Mr. E. 11. Smith; vice-presidents, Mr. D. Reid and Major J. T. Bosworth; committee, Messrs Le Grange,- Berry, C.i 'Newman, Boyd, Sandilands, Garry, Nairn, Higgins and D. Lloyd; trustees, Major J. T. Bosworth and Mr. E. H. Smith. A hearty voto of thanks was accorded the secretary, Mr. Crawforo, for his good work throughout the year.
