Women’s Institutes
A successful dahlia show was held by the garden circle of the Linton Women’s Institue on February 10. The points prize in the dahlia sections was won by 1 Mr. Honour, of Palmerston North; the gladioli points prize by Mrs R. Aitchison, miscellaneous points prize, Mrs. S. Free, decorative points prize, Mrs. D. Scott; garden circle members’ points prize, Miss Young and Mrs G. Sheridan; children's points prize, Lorna Quartley; the champion dahlia of the show went to Mr. Honour; champion gladioli to Mrs. It. Aitchison, Miscellaneous champion to Mrs D. Currin; champion bloom of the show (a beautiful spike of delphinium), Mrs. D. Currin.
Miss Joan Northey, of the Wellington Public Hospital, and Mr. Jack Northey, L.L.M., of Auckland, are spending a few days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Northey, Linton Street. To-morrow, in the Opera House (stage) the annual Dahlia Show will be held. A good display is expected. The show will be formally opened by the Patron, Mr. J. A. Nash at 2.45 p.m. The committee would appreciate the co-operation and support of all citizens. Members and intendingmembers please note this is the first show of the financial year, 1944.
