Work of Red Cross Sewing Division

The Palmerston North Red Cross Sewing Division held its quarterly meeting yesterday afternoon. Mrs. E. M. Wilde presided and gave thanks for the co-oper-ative and good work carried out by members and willing helpers. A list of recent work was reviewed. It was revealed that there had been sent to London Headquarters 18 bed quilts, while to Headquarters, Wellington, for the sick and wounded 35 long-sleeved pullovers, S 6 sleeveless pullovers, 90 pairs socks, l waistcoat, 4 cardigans, 101 pairs of O.S. pyjamas, 9 pairs men’s pyjamas, 15 dressing gowns and 8 chest blankets, had been sent forward. In addition 78 screen curtains had been sent to Ohakea, 68 cushion covers to the Palmerston North Hospital and 12 milk jug covers to Linton camp. Clothing had also been provided for a case of distress in Palmerston North.
