Two Men Killed on Railway Near Wangaehu

TROLLY COLLIDES WITH SPECIAL RAILCAR (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, March 5. One man was killed and another died subsequently from injuries received when a railcar collided with a motor trolly on a bend between Fordel* and Wangaehu on Saturday afternoon. They were Hector John Hextall, aged 31, 1 single, of Wanganui, and Charles Rennie, aged 33, married, of Ratana Pa. Both were surfacemen employed by the New Zealand Railways. The accident occurred about 3.30 p.m. The men had finished work for the day and were on their way to Wangaheu. Rounding the bend the trolly collided head-on with a special railcar travelling from Wellington to New Plymouth. Rennie was killed practically outright and Hextall died later in the Wanganui Hospital. The railcar was undamaged and the trolly slightly damaged.
